Tips for baking

Years ago when you said get a cup of flour , Mom would have grabbed her tea cup now we exact measure our ingredients.

Here are a few tips to help you be a better baker

- When separating whites - make sure they are at room temperature
- when pouring honey or syrup first coat the spoon with oil to get all of the liquid.
Learn methods of baking verses recipes
If buttermilk is not available add a tsp of vinegar or lemon juice to milk to sour it.
level cakes before frosting by slicing a small sliver off to even it.

- underbake brownies
- Bake everyday! If you are really trying to be perfect bake the same thing everyday until you get it.

All Ovens are not the same temperature so make sure you use a oven thermometer
